You’ve probably heard of the Yukon River and if you haven’t,
it’s the historic Rive that brought the prospectors the Gold
Fields in Dawson City. The Yukon River is like a living museum
with many old town sites and relics along the way. Fishing in the
Thirty Mile is fantastic with moose, bears and even eagles visiting
the river. Once in Dawson, there will be an opportunity to take
in some of the local culture and history.
Day 1
We’ll pick you up around 9am and head off down to Rotary
Peace Park, located across the road from the dry docked SS Klondike.
We’ll go over our gear, load up the canoes and head off
down the River
Day 2-8
As we paddle along the river, we’ll take in the sights and
paddle the famous Lake Laberge. Some of the sites we’ll enjoy
are the 30 mile rapids (not so rapid), Hootaliqua, the SS Evelyn-forever
dry docked and then head into Carmacks. This little community is
a good place to do a small re-supply and some sight seeing. We’ll
then off the for the rest of our journey including a stop at Fort
Selkirk. This is a small fishing village now, but it was the sight
of a historical battle. We’ll then continue on the our final
destination of Dawson City where we’ll be spending the
night in a local hotel.
Day 9
After a leisurely breakfast, this day is yours to explore and
sight see. This town is a replica of the “good ol’ days” with
many of the original buildings. Save some money for some
gambling at Diamond Tooth Gerties and enjoy some on stage
entertainment
by the Can Can girls!
Day 10
Any last minute shopping can be done before we head back
to Whitehorse. This 5 hour drive will give you an opportunity
to relax, unwind
and enjoy the scenery. We’ll be back in time for the late
afternoon and you can enjoy a complimentary pass to the Whitehorse
Lion’s Aquatic Center. This wonderful “pool with a
view” facility is complete with a slide, a lazy river
and even a 25 person hot tub. This is a nice relaxing way
to end your
journey.
