Backpacking/Hiking > 7 days Tombstones

Come and join us in the rugged Tombstone Mountains. We’ll enjoy superb hiking in the true wilderness of the Yukon. Wildlife viewing, birding, plant identification and some truly huge mountains give this trip a five star rating! This is a naturalist’s paradise!

Day 1
We’ll meet at 9am and do a last minute gear check before heading out. This scenic 6 hour drive takes us thru some of the most beautiful terrain in the Yukon. As we close in on our destination, you’ll begin to appreciate the journey we are about to embark on. Our first night will be spent in the Tombstone campground, and we’ll head out into the true backcountry the next morning.

Days 2-5
These next 4 days will be spent exploring the spectacular beauty of the majestic mountains. Mount Monolith rises from the ground like a pillar, while creeks and streams are filled with the clear, pure water. We’ll can enjoy many lakeside campsites, or since we are not tied down to rigid schedules, we could also set up a base camp and spend some time on day hikes with lighter loads! Bring lots of film for this area is pristine and is definitely worth the many photo opportunities.

Day 6
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll make our way back out to the campground, and head into the historical Dawson City. We’ll “check in” for some showers and soft beds before heading out to take in the museum, Can Can dancers even some old fashioned gambling at Diamond Tooth Gerties.

Day 7
Any last minute sightseeing or shopping can be done before heading back to Whitehorse. This 5 hour drive will give you a chance to reflect on the wilderness you have just experienced. We’ll arrive back in Whitehorse in time for a complimentary pass to the Whitehorse Lions Aquatic Center. This wonderful “pool with a view” facility is complete with a slide, a lazy river and even a 25 person hot tub. This is a nice relaxing way to end your journey.
